Another session with some of my favorite boys!!!!!  Mom contacted me because she wanted to get some shots of each of her boys, by themselves.  SO- that was easily accomplished.

I then had an idea to crawl down into a creek and get some photos of the boys playing in the water.  Mom and Dad were SO excited, and I even warned them it was quite a hike downhill, but they were thrilled about the idea.  Getting four kids down into the creek was a lot of work, which is why I love this client.  Some parents look at me like I am NUTS when I have these crazy ideas, but this family is up for anything.

Even though the water had gooey slime on the rocks, we had bugs flying all around us and Dad found some poison ivy, we were able to get some great shots.  Afterwards, I felt like contacting Mike Rowe from Dirty Jobs and having him accompany me for my next outing!!!!

THANK YOU to these parents for all your hard work in during this photo session.  It made me giggle!!!!

Simply said….You are the BEST! We are so grateful for the moments you capture.

I had so much fun doing my last “before and after” that I thought I would do it again!!!  This time with an outdoor pic of one of my favorite clients who told me he would like to take a bath with a bunch of eyeballs!!!  CRACKS me up!!!!

The first image is my completed photo, ready for client and all to see.  I really wanted there to be a golden tone to this photo because I loved the textures and coloring in the background.  The golden grass blurred in the background with greenery is just beautiful.  I basically painted on a golden tone, while still adding contrast and making the color pop.

LOVE the golden tones in Conner’s hair too.  All this is done on purpose to create a “look” that represents my vision.

The second image is SOOC (straight out of the camera).  I want you to notice the vibrant colors are gone, the golden tone, the image is almost flat. It took me about 10 minutes to accomplish this look because I can be pretty obsessed about improving the image as much as possible.  NOW- I know you are thinking, 10 minutes is not long, but I usually proof about 30 images per session.  Some images can be a quick edit, but others can be more time consuming.  SO- if you wonder why a professional photographer is so expensive, it is because of the time and expertise that goes into getting that perfect image.

Just some things to consider when choosing your next photographer.  It is an important investment and I think so many people get “Mommy eyes” and do not realize that there are some photographers who have no idea what they are doing.

  • Well-said! I especially like the “mommy eyes” term. We all know that we love every picture of our kids, but a real photographer knows how to make it beautiful. 🙂

I just love little Rylee and I have enjoyed watching her grow over the last two years!!!!  Rylee is my neighbor and my daughter just loves playing with her!!!!  I also feel honored that I have been able to capture her grow into such a sweet little girl.

She was AMAZING during her session.  Her mom’s personality really shines through in these photos and I can see the Tedford eyes in these shots!!!  I really could not narrow it down because she was such a good little model!!!!

I just LOVE shooting this family!!!  They were one of my first clients and they have been so loyal, plus I have enjoyed watching Olivia grow, along with their family!!!  I feel like they really get my style of photography.  I try not to over pose, and instead I want to capture natural shots of your children.  I love it when parents show up and just want to have fun.

Mom played Olivia’s favorite song Boom Boom Pow and the girls just danced around.

PLUS- I am in love with the sweet sister shots.  Olivia looks like she is thinking, “Harper, you will sit and smile and take good photos with me or else.”

What cuties!!!!!!

What a fun mini session, and big sister Katie came all prepared to smile and pose for the camera.  She was really putting on a show and I loved her little giggles.  It has been a while since I have captured this family, so it was sweet to see how much the girls have grown and to see the sibling dynamics.  Katie sure loves her little sister and Maggie received many hugs and kisses during our session.
